As residents of Oyo State join the global community to celebrate the New Year 2025, the Oyo State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its dedication to promoting peace, unity, and development across all sectors of the state.
The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Media, Public Affairs, and ICT, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, disclosed this in a new year message on January 1, 2025.
The lawmaker expressed optimism for a year of growth and progress while emphasizing the Assembly’s resolve to overcome unforeseen challenges that may hinder peaceful coexistence and developmental strides in the state.
The lawmaker urged citizens to embrace the year with hope, optimism, and a commitment to the Omituntun 2.0 initiatives being championed by Governor Seyi Makinde, which according to him aims to drive overall development and transformation of the state.
“This year, let us be purposeful in our actions, abide in faith, trust, and love towards God and our State, and eschew all negative tendencies and sentiments that would diminish our collective fortunes of unity, peace, progress, and stability,” the lawmaker said.
He equally expressed the state Assembly’s resolve to enact laws that address the needs of the people, enhance governance, and stimulate the economy to improve the standard of living.
“Since our inauguration 18 months ago, representatives in the Assembly have been steadfast in facilitating good governance and creating opportunities to raise the standard of living in Oyo State.
“We are even more determined to ensure every resident feels the impact of government policies through effective law-making and amendments,” he noted.
He called on residents to continue coexisting harmoniously, stating that unity remains key to the state’s progress.
“Let us ensure that our dear state remains an oasis of peace and tranquility as we enter a more productive, brighter, and prosperous year.
“On behalf of the 10th Oyo Assembly, I congratulate and wish you a prosperous New Year 2025,” the statement concluded.
