There are fresh political stirs within the corridors of power as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday, hosted the 2023 Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Folarin, a former Majority Leader of the Senate, who also represented Oyo Central Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly, disclosed the meeting in a post on his official Facebook page earlier today.

“I had the honour of meeting our father, leader, and President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, today at Aso Villa,” he wrote, alongside photographs showing both men in a warm exchange.

Though details of their discussion were not made public, political insiders have begun reading meaning into the visit, especially as alignments and recalibrations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Folarin, a prominent APC figure in Oyo State and three-term senator, has maintained close ties with the party amid political speculations and uncertainty since his defeat in the 2023 governorship race.

His visit, westernmirror.com.ng understands may not be unconnected to the growing push by the APC to consolidate its strength in the Southwest and reclaim key states currently under opposition control.

A source within the party described the meeting as “strategic,” hinting that Tinubu’s interactions with influential state leaders like Folarin form part of ongoing consultations to strengthen internal unity ahead of future contests.

While neither the presidency nor Folarin’s camp has issued an official statement on the agenda of the meeting, the pictures have already sparked conversations within political circles in Oyo State.
