The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Oyo State has expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde over the commissioning of the new LG House and Training School and for his conversion of local government workers in the state to permanent staff.
Comrade Ayobami Adeogun, President of NULGE in Oyo state, made this known on behalf of the union in a statement obtained by Westernmirror.com.ng on Wednesday, October 2.
Governor Seyi Makinde announced the approval for the conversion of local government workers across the 33 LGAs and 35 LCDAs earlier on Wednesday at the official commissioning of Local Government House and Staff Training School in Ibadan.
Adeogun described the gesture as an epochal demonstration of the governor’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers at the grassroots since assuming office.
Comrade Adeogun emphasized that the conversion of temporary staff to permanent positions not only enhances job security of affected persons but also boosts the morale of workers across the state.
“On behalf of the entire workforce of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Oyo State Chapter, I am deeply honored to extend our profound appreciation to Your Excellency for the immense support and magnanimity you have consistently demonstrated towards the Local Government Service staff since assuming office.
“This decision is a clear demonstration of the governor’s dedication to the welfare of local government workers, who are the backbone of public service delivery across the entire 33 local government areas of the state. We have witnessed immense support from this present administration, which has been crucial in deepening an environment where our members can thrive.
“Governor Makinde’s administration has prioritized workers’ welfare, and implementation of policies targeted at improving salaries and working conditions of not only our members but the entire workforce in the state.
“Under his visionary leadership, the Local Government Service has witnessed an unprecedented transformation, and we are here today to celebrate yet another remarkable achievement made possible by your administration.
“First, we express our gratitude for the outstanding promotions that have been approved from 2017 to 2022. This singular act has not only boosted the morale of the workforce but has also provided the much-needed career progression for our staff.
“It is a testament to your commitment to recognizing and rewarding hard work, dedication, and loyalty to service.
In addition, Your Excellency’s prompt payment of salaries has brought stability and financial security to the lives of our workers.
“Month after month, without fail, salaries have been paid on time, and this has contributed significantly to the peace of mind and productivity of the Local Government staff. We cannot thank you enough for prioritizing the welfare of the workforce, even amidst economic challenges.
“We also commend Your Excellency for the Elongation of Service and Consolidation Salary Payment Approval for the Heads of Local Government Administrations. This has provided enhanced benefits and incentives for senior management staff, ensuring they can serve with greater motivation and commitment.
“Furthermore, we deeply appreciate your Approval of the Conversion Exercise for eligible officers across Sub-Professional and Professional cadres. By opening this pathway for career development, you have given many of our officers the opportunity to rise and further contribute to the efficiency of the Local Government system. This is an enduring legacy that will continue to impact the lives and careers of our staff.
“To crown all these remarkable achievements out of numerous, today we witness the successful completion and official commissioning of the gigantic, monumental, tremendous, symbolic, extremely beautiful, massive and ultra-modern Local Government House and 300-seater Local Government Staff Training School.
“This stunning, state-of-the-art edifice is not just a building—it is a symbol of the new dawn in the Local Government Service of Oyo State. For over 40 years, the Local Government Service operated as tenants in the Water Corporation building.
“But through your unparalleled vision and leadership, Your Excellency, we now have a permanent home—one that will undoubtedly enhance the productivity of staff and improve service delivery to the people of Oyo State.
Words are not enough to fully convey our appreciation for these laudable accomplishments. This achievement is the first of its kind in the history of the Local Government Service, and we stand today as grateful beneficiaries of your thoughtful leadership. The entire NULGE family is immensely proud and thankful.
It is our sincere prayer that the Almighty God continues to bless you, increase you, and protect Your Excellency as you lead Oyo State to greater heights.
“We trust that your administration will continue to prioritize the welfare of the people and that your legacy will be one of lasting impact and transformation.
“Once again, Your Excellency, we express our deepest gratitude for all that you have done and continue to do for the Local Government Service. We remain confident that, under your leadership, the Local Government Service will continue to thrive, and the people of Oyo State will continue to benefit from improved governance and service delivery.
“Thank you, Your Excellency, for this historical GSM-SEED that will continue to germinate and produce fruits till generations yet unborn.” Comrade Adeogun concluded.
