Satguru Maharaj Ji, founder of the One Love Family, has raised alarm over the increasing threat of land grabbing in his village, accusing both land grabbers and certain security operatives within Oyo state of complicity.
In a statement made available to journalists on Friday, Maharaj Ji expressed his concerns about the persistent encroachment on his village’s land, which he described as a serious threat to the peace and security of the area.
He also condemned the recent arrest of five of his devotees, allegedly orchestrated by the police.
Maharaj Ji claims that some police operatives have played a role in enabling these unlawful actions and have allegedly unjustly detained his devotees.
The statement alleged further that Maharaj Ji’s devotees are currently being held in the custody of the Oyo State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Iyaganku, Ibadan.
Maharaj Ji appealed to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to intervene swiftly and decisively to address both the land grabbing issue and the alleged wrongful arrests.
He urged the governor to take quick action, stressing the importance of maintaining peace and tranquility in the state.
“We appeal to Your Excellency to use your influence and authority to quickly stop the unlawful activities of some police personnel under the Oyo State Police Command, who are threatening the peace and stability of the current administration in Oyo State,” the statement reads.
Maharaj Ji further commended Governor Makinde’s leadership and vision for the state and also acknowledged his efforts in making Oyo a pacesetter in Nigeria and Africa.
He expressed confidence that the governor’s intervention could restore order and protect the rights of the people.
“We are committed to peace in Oyo and Nigeria, and in alignment with Your Excellency’s goals to make Oyo the pacesetter state, we look forward to your decisive action in preserving the integrity of our land and the well-being of our people,” he added.
