The Speaker, Oyo state House of Assembly, Honorable Adebo Ogundoyin has hailed the state Governor, Seyi Makinde over his commitment to pay special attention on project monitoring across the state.
Ogundoyin, who also doubles as the Chairman, Nigeria Conference of Speakers of state legislators gave the commendation on a post on his official Facebook page on Thursday.
Makinde had earlier at the Courtesy Room of the Governor’s Office, signed the Oyo State Project Monitoring Agency Bill, 2024 into Law.
The Ibarapa born second term Speaker of the state Assembly stated that the Governor’s assent to the bill was a significant move towards enhancing transparency and accountability in project execution in the state.
According to Ogundoyin, the signing ceremony, which took place amidst dignitaries and stakeholders, demonstrates the commitment of the Makinde led administration in Oyo State to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation of consultants and projects.
He added that the move aims to uphold delivery standards, adherence to project timelines, and enforce contractual agreements with the government, stressing that the establishment of the Project Monitoring Agency aligns with the government’s overarching goal of guaranteeing optimal utilization of public funds.
In his words: “By closely monitoring projects, the Oyo State Government endeavors to safeguard taxpayer money and ensure that citizens receive genuine value from infrastructure investments.”
The lawmaker’s Facebook post reads further, “It was a great honour for me to witness the signing into law of the Oyo State Project Monitoring Agency Bill, 2024 by His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde.
“This is a further attestation to the avowed resolve of the present administration in Oyo State to monitor and evaluate consultants and projects performance level based on delivery, time and contractual agreements with Government.
“This is to ensure that Oyo State Government gets real value for public funds expended on projects executed.
“I therefore use this medium to congratulate the Executive Assistant to His Excellency on Project Monitoring, Engr. Open Salawu who is going to head the Agency, and the other team members, and charge them to justify the confidence reposed in them by working to improve contractors’ performances and ensuring that quality projects are delivered as and when due.”
