As part of its strategic efforts to support the Nigerian federal government in adopting compressed natural gas (CNG) and training engineers, the Ademola Isaac Agoro Engineering Foundation has launched a training program on CNG Auto Gas Conversion and smart meter installation for selected young engineers.
While addressing journalists at Protogy Global Services Limited, Alomaja, Ibadan, the Managing Director of the company and founder of the Foundation, Engr. Ademola Agoro, explained that the training aims to bridge the skill gap in engineering while equipping artisans, power sector workers, automobile technicians, and other professionals with practical knowledge.
According to Engr. Agoro, the Foundation will continue to empower young artisans and engineers.
He noted that prior to the formal registration of the Foundation, many individuals had already been trained, while the current trainees are the first official set under the registered entity.
The training program comprises two parts which include CNG Auto Gas Conversion Training scheduled to begin on January 20 and conclude on January 30, and Smart Meter Installation Training which is already ongoing and expected to end on January 18.
Earlier, the facilitator, Engr. Adewale Ikotun, highlighted that the program complements President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda on the adoption of gas.
He added that participants will gain hands-on experience in manufacturing, assembling, and maintaining meters.
“What we are trying to do is to complement the effort of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the adoption of gas,” Engr. Ikotun reiterated.
Seun Adebisi, the Factory and Production Manager of Protogy Global Services Limited and a trainer, also stated that the training aims to equip young engineers with skills in smart metering, from assembly to installation.
He added that it also helps them understand the components of meters and prepare for potential challenges during installations.
Some of the trainees expressed gratitude to the Foundation for the opportunity.
Enthusiastic Fatai Ajibola, one of the participants, said: “Ademola Isaac Agoro has done well for us. The training will help me execute meter installations to standard.
“I now have a better understanding of the practical aspects of electrical and meter maintenance. The experience has been amazing and overwhelming.”
Engr. Agoro however, reaffirmed that the Foundation remains committed to developing practical skills among young Nigerians while empowering them to contribute to national growth and innovation.
