The executive chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye has commissioned a newly reconstructed block of classrooms at Community Primary School, Sagbe-Obe.

The Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Nureni Adeniran, performed the commissioning of the completed classroom building project on Tuesday, February 4.

It was gathered that the newly inaugurated facility, which was previously dilapidated was pulled down for its total reconstruction that now comprises classrooms with equipped modern amenities to ensure a conducive learning atmosphere for the students.

Adeniran stated that the school project aligns with Oyo State’s educational objectives, which include providing access to free and quality education for all children, reducing the number of out of school children by expanding educational infrastructures to accommodate them.

Adeniran commended the Akinyele Local Government Chairman for the stride and emphasized the importance of such projects in achieving the state’s educational goals.

He noted that the reconstructed classrooms would significantly enhance the quality of teaching and learning thereby, contributing to the overall development of basic education in the Oyo state.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by community leaders, educators, and students, all expressing optimism about the positive impact of the new facilities.

Earlier in his address, the executive chairman of Akinyele Local Government reiterated his commitment to prioritizing education and assured that more projects aimed at improving educational infrastructure are underway.

While thanking the SUBEB chairman and his colleagues from other LGAs as well as state functionaries, party stalwarts who made out time to grace the event, Akinleye expressed satisfaction in the completion of the construction project which started about four months ago, while assuring that no amount of money expended on enhancing educational infrastructure could be regarded as a waste.

The Akinyele LG boss disclosed that the project was directly funded by the taxpayers money and also made use of direct labor thereby, revolving the local government resources within the council area while creating employment opportunities for people and enhancing the LG’s economic base.

He reeled out some of his sectoral achievements and highlighted key areas that have received priority attention to include education, security, social welfare, road infrastructure, capacity building and human capital empowerment.

In his words, “This project, undertaken by direct labour, is one of several projects initiated by our administration, aimed at fulfilling promises made to the electorate during the electioneering campaigning for the Office of the Executive Chairman of this Local Government.

“As such, on assumption of office, we hit the ground running by identifying the most urgent needs of our people and taking proactive steps to ensure they are actualised. For us, these are low hanging fruits which we set out to achieve before our first one year in office, by God’s grace.

“Education has always been very dear to the heart of our indefatigable principal,
His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and taking a cue from the Omituntun 2.0. Agenda, this sector is one of our priority areas and cardinal programmes.

“It bears eloquent testament to our administration’s aversion to abandoned projects and also reaffirms our commitment to ensuring that any project embarked upon, is completed in record time.

“Permit me to state at this juncture that my administration has resolved to tackle infrastructural decay in the Local Government Area heads on, even in the face of scarce resources and competing needs, not only in the educational sector but across various gevelopmental spectrums.”

The Head Mistress of the school, Olufunmilayo Ishola, expressed her joy in the new building facility assuring that it would further enhance teaching and learning. She commended the Council chairman for fulfilling his promise to the community and assured that staff members will continue to put in their best to build the students in academic and character.

Similarly, the traditional leader of the area, Onidiose of Idiose; Chief Ramoni Adebayo praised governor Makinde for his exemplary leadership that are being emulated and replicated by the Akinyele LG chairman. He assured that the community would continue to provide all necessary support as may be required by the LG authority.

In their separate messages of appreciation, some of the students of the school thanked the local government chairman for the completion and commissioning of the school building project while reaffirming their dedication to academic excellence.

Other state government and PDP chieftains who spoke at the event include Seun Olufade (executive chairman, IBN LG), Hon. Abideen Adeaga (executive chairman, Oyo state community and social development agency), and Alhaji Babatunde Tijani otherwise known as ‘Double T’.

Other notable personalities present at the event include Hon. Surjudeen Abiodun Tiamy, Akinyele LG HLGA, Mrs. Ayodele Busari, Hon. Kolawole Rafiu; Leader and members of Akinyele LG Legislative House, local government political functionaries and party faithful.
