The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, has announced that Friday, February 28, 2025, corresponding to the 29th day of Sha’aban 1446AH, will be the official day for the sighting of the new moon of Ramadan 1446AH.
In a press release issued on February 28, by the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, Muslims across Nigeria are urged to look for the crescent moon on this day.
If the moon is sighted, individuals are encouraged to report their observations to the Sultanate Council through the designated contact numbers provided.
The sighting of the new moon according to the Sultanate, will mark the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection observed by Muslims worldwide.
Muslims and religious leaders are encouraged to participate in the moon sighting process and report any confirmed sightings promptly to facilitate the official declaration of Ramadan 1446AH.
