The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has strongly refuted recent claims that it terminated 3,000 employees, describing the persistent spread of this falsehood as a deliberate attempt to tarnish its reputation.
In a statement issued by Angela Olanrewaju, IBEDC’s Coordinating Head of Corporate Services, on Tuesday, the company reiterated that its total staff strength is approximately 2,500, a fact it has repeatedly clarified with verifiable evidence.
The company said that the continuous propagation of this misinformation suggests a malicious agenda by certain media outlets, and has vowed to pursue legal action against those responsible for the defamation.
IBEDC reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional service and outlined ongoing measures to enhance value across its franchise areas.
As part of this commitment, the company said it is actively supporting the resolution of the third-party outsourcing (PIPILL) issue with the Oyo State branch of the NLC.
IBEDC expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Labour for facilitating discussions among stakeholders and commended the professionalism displayed throughout the ongoing mediation process.
The company also appealed to the Oyo State branch of the NLC to exercise patience while discussions continue, urging them to refrain from picketing IBEDC offices or disrupting operations.
Such actions, IBEDC warned, would only hinder its ability to maintain a stable power supply to businesses and residents in Oyo State and surrounding areas.
IBEDC reaffirmed that it remains resolute in its mission to serve its customers effectively and will take necessary steps to protect its integrity against baseless accusations.
