A former Oyo Central senatorial aspirant and aide to Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon. Wale Ajani, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ajani announced his resignation in a letter dated January 10, 2026, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ward 6 in Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He said the decision took immediate effect.
In the letter, Ajani cited lingering internal challenges within the party at both national and state levels as the reason for his exit.
He pointed to the emergence of factions, caretaker committees, and what he described as a sustained absence of internal democracy as developments that made it difficult for him to continue his membership.
“This decision has not come lightly,” he stated, adding that the prevailing uncertainties within the party compelled him to step aside in his personal and political interest.
Ajani, who previously served as Director General of the Oyo State Liaison Offices in Lagos and Abuja, expressed appreciation to the PDP for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the growth of the Oyo State government under the party.
He also thanked party leaders and members for their support over the years.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Ajani said he intends to prepare for “a higher level of political engagement,” noting that details of his future political plans and possible new party affiliation would be made known at a later date.
