The Special Assistant to Oyo State Governor on Interfaith Affairs, Reverend Femi Ibikunle, has expressed felicitations to Christians across the state on the occasion of this year’s Easter celebration.
This was as the preacher cum politician, urged Christians to embrace the deeper spiritual significance of the season through sober reflection, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence.
The governor’s aide made this call in a statement on Sunday, describing Easter as a sacred period that symbolizes the virtues of love, humility, and redemption, as exemplified in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
He noted that beyond the festivities, the season calls for introspection and a conscious effort to live in harmony with others, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
According to him, the message of Easter remains particularly relevant in a time when the nation faces social and economic challenges.
He therefore, stressed that the values of patience, forgiveness, and selflessness can help promote and deepen unity and stability in the state and beyond.
He urged Christians to draw strength from the resurrection story as a symbol of hope and self renewal.
The governor’s Special Assistant also emphasized the importance of interfaith harmony, calling on religious leaders and adherents to continue promoting dialogue, tolerance, and mutual respect among different faith communities in Oyo State and beyond.
He commended the existing peaceful relationship among religious groups in the state and encouraged sustained efforts to preserve it.
While reiterating the commitment of the state government to inclusiveness and religious balance, he assured residents that policies and programmes would continue to reflect fairness and sensitivity to all faiths.
He further called on citizens to use the Easter period to pray for the state and the nation, particularly for enduring peace, economic recovery, and responsible leadership.
He particularly urged residents of the state to continue to remember governor Seyi Makinde in their private prayers as he continues to navigate through difficult economic and security times in the country to deliver good governance to the people.
He further urged Nigerians as a whole not to lose faith in the country’s future but to remain united in the pursuit of collective progress regardless of prevailing security and economic concerns.
