A secondary school in Oyo State, Confidence Academy, has honoured the Special Assistant on Interfaith Affairs to Governor Seyi Makinde, Rev’d Olufemi Ibikunle, with the “Doyen of Youth Development Award. ”
The award, presented to him in his office on Wednesday May 6, at the State Government Secretariat, Ibadan, was in recognition of his contributions to youth advancement and social cohesion.

Presenting the plaque, the school management commended Ibikunle for his “outstanding dedication to youth development, societal harmony and impactful public service.”
The management noted that Rev’d Ibikunle’s interfaith initiatives have helped promote peaceful coexistence among diverse religious communities in the state.
The school management said the recognition of Ibikunle aligns with the institution’s mission of empowering youth through positive role models and community engagement.
In his remarks, Ibikunle expressed appreciation for the recognition, describing it as a call to do more in mentoring young people and strengthening unity across religious lines.
He emphasized the importance of instilling values of tolerance, discipline and purpose in students, especially in a rapidly changing society.
He further reiterated the commitment of the Makinde administration to inclusive governance, adding that interfaith collaboration remains a key pillar in sustaining peace and development in the state.
According to him, schools play a critical role in shaping future leaders and must be supported to thrive.
The ceremony featured sporting displays, march-past competitions and cultural performances, reflecting the school’s broader goal of nurturing well-rounded students.
