A former member of the House of Representatives, Saheed Akinade-Fijabi, has reportedly declined a House of Representatives ticket allegedly offered to him by Seyi Makinde ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to reports, Akinade-Fijabi was pencilled down as the consensus candidate to contest for the Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency seat under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Westernmirror.com.ng understands that the former lawmaker represented the constituency in the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2019 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress before losing his re-election bids in 2019 and 2023.
Akinade-Fijabi, who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party late last year, was also appointed Chairman of the recently concluded Oyo State @50 celebration planning committee by governor Makinde.
However, a source close to the politician disclosed that he had turned down the proposed ticket, insisting that he was not interested in returning to the Green Chamber.
The source quoted him as saying that the House of Representatives ticket should be given to interested aspirants, while reaffirming his loyalty to Governor Makinde and readiness to continue working with him politically.
According to the report, Akinade-Fijabi would formally communicate his position to the governor in the coming days.
