The Force disclosed on Saturday that the victims regained their freedom following a coordinated rescue operation carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT).
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police Anthony Okon Placid, the rescue operation took place at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, after days of intensive intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations.

During the operation, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded, while security operatives recovered two rifles from the criminals.
The victims were rescued unharmed and have since been placed in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and necessary support.

He described their efforts as instrumental to the safe rescue of the victims.
The police leadership also assured Nigerians that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the operation.
