The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Akinyele State Constituency II ahead of the forthcoming 2027 general elections into the State House of Assembly, Olalekan Adekunle, has been honoured with the prestigious Best Youth Parliamentarian Award.
Westernmirror.com.ng reports that he award was in recognition of his outstanding performance, dedication, and impactful contributions during his tenure in the Oyo State Youth Parliament.
The award, presented on Thursday during a valedictory session of the outgone 2nd Youth Parliament, by the Chairman, Oyo Agency for Youth Development, Prince Adebowale Falana, celebrates Adekunle’s commitment to legislative excellence, youth development, and constituency-focused initiatives throughout his period of service.
Speaking after receiving the award, Adekunle described the recognition as both humbling and inspiring, noting that it reflected the value of purposeful leadership and selfless service.
He expressed optimism and confidence that the award will further boost his political profile ahead of the coming election, particularly as political activities gradually gather momentum across Oyo State ahead of 2027.
According to him, the honour was not merely a personal achievement but a testament to the collective support of his constituents, colleagues, mentors, and the government that provided young people with opportunities to contribute meaningfully to governance.
“I am deeply honoured and humbled to receive the Best Youth Parliamentarian Award. This recognition is a reflection of outstanding performance, dedication, and impactful contributions during my service in the Oyo State Youth Parliament,” he said.
Adekunle stated that throughout his tenure, he remained committed to effective legislative participation and the execution of meaningful constituency projects aimed at improving the lives of young people and residents within his sphere of influence.
The ADC chieftain further said the award reinforced his belief that leadership is fundamentally about service, vision, and measurable impact on society.
He added that the recognition had further strengthened his conviction that he possesses the requisite experience, capacity, and commitment to provide quality representation for the people of Akinyele State Constituency II if elected into the Oyo State House of Assembly.
“Receiving this award demonstrates that leadership is about service, vision, and impact. It also serves as evidence that, if given the opportunity to serve as the substantive Honourable Member representing the good people of Akinyele State Constituency II, I have the experience and commitment required to deliver quality representation,” he stated.
