The Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Legislative Matters, Hon. Samuel Adejumobi, popularly known as “Agbarapo,” has commended Governor ‘Seyi Makinde for demonstrating consistency in governance with the successful delivery of two Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft.
The former Majority Leader of Oyo state Assembly further described the development as proof that the governor fulfils his promises despite criticism, distractions and public skepticism.
Adejumobi, in a statement obtained by westernmirror.com.bg on Wednesday in Ibadan, said the arrival of the two Diamond DA42 MNG surveillance aircraft was a testament of another major milestone in Governor Makinde’s security agenda and reflected a leadership style built on long-term planning rather than political expediency.
According to him, the governor’s ability to see through the acquisition of the aircraft, one year after publicly announcing the plan, reflects his unrelenting commitment to policies that promote the safety and prosperity of the people of Oyo State.
He noted that while some critics doubted the government’s intention and questioned the delay in the arrival of the aircraft, Governor Makinde remained focused on delivering the project in the overall interest of the state.
“The successful delivery of these surveillance aircraft is a clear demonstration of Governor Seyi Makinde’s consistency in governance.
“He is a leader who does not make promises merely for political applause. Once he commits to a policy that will benefit the people, he pursues it diligently and vigorously until it becomes a reality,” Adejumobi said.
The governor’s legislative aide described security as the bedrock of sustainable development, stressing that the investment in advanced aerial surveillance capability would significantly strengthen intelligence gathering, improve rapid response to criminal activities and complement ongoing security operations across the state’s 33 local government areas.
He recalled that Governor Makinde had repeatedly maintained that the vast geographical size of Oyo State required a multi-dimensional security strategy beyond conventional ground operations, adding that the delivery of the aircraft validates that vision.
Adejumobi further praised the governor for institutionalising collaboration with federal security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Air Force, through a Memorandum of Understanding that would ensure the effective deployment and operation of the surveillance platforms.
According to him, such synergy between the state government and federal security institutions demonstrates responsible leadership and reflects Governor Makinde’s pragmatic approach to addressing emerging security challenges.
He also noted that the acquisition had become even more significant following recent security incidents in parts of the state, saying the aircraft would enhance aerial intelligence, assist security agencies in tracking criminal elements and improve the overall security architecture of Oyo State.
“Governor Makinde has consistently shown that governance is about making difficult but necessary decisions that guarantee the welfare of the people. This investment is not for today alone; it is a strategic asset that will serve Oyo State for many years to come,” he added.
Adejumobi urged residents to continue supporting the administration’s security initiatives, expressing confidence that the deployment of the surveillance aircraft would further consolidate the relative peace and stability enjoyed in the state.
