Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde has called Nigerians to shun worrying about longevity of life and instead focus more on living an impactful life with strong legacies.
Makinde made this remark while delivering a farewell remark at Ambassador Taofeek Arabaja mother’s 8th Day Fidau held at Jogor Centre, Ring Road, Ibadan today.
Westernmirror.com.ng had earlier reported that Arapaja’s mother, Late Alhaja Nimotallah Odee Arapaja passed away at well advanced age of 95.
Makinde who noted that the deceased lived a longer year as in her time, maintained that she lived a simple life characterized with simplicity and impactful life despite the challenges of her era.
The governor, while sympathizing with the family and children of the deceased, noted that her legacy will continue to live on.
He noted that the proofs of the good life she lived and the good legacies she left behind are Amb. Arapaja and his siblings.
“We thank God for this celebration of life. We cannot question the will of God on her passing at 95.
“For those who are here who didn’t know Mama, I believe you know her products, Ambassador Arapaja and his siblings. Their good deeds towards humanity have brought everyone of us here for this celebration.
“That means Mama lived a fulfilled life and has left good products behind.
“It is our prayer that God grants repose to her soul.”
The event had in attendance the Acting PDP National Chairman, Ambassador Iliyas Damagum; a former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; former Oyo State Deputy Governors, Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi and Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi.
Also in attendance were the PDP National Vice Chairman (South-West), Chief Kamorudeen Ajisafe; co-chairman of the Oyo State Elders Council, Dr Saka Balogun; chairman of the Oyo State Advisory Council, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN) and members of the Council, including Senator Monsura Sunmonu.
Top government functionaries who attended the event with the governor included the Chief of Staff, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi; Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Prof. Dahud Shangodoyin; and Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Simeon Oyeleke, among others.
