Oyo state governor’s press crew members have felicitated the Executive Assistant on Security Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde, Compol Sunday Odukoya, on the occasion of his birthday anniversary celebration.
The newsmen who hosted the governor’s aide briefly on Monday, November 25 inside the Press Room, Governor’s Office, Agodi, Secretariat, Ibadan, described Odukoya as dependable friend of the media.
The former Commissioner of Police, now a trusted ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, was showered with well-wishes by the media professionals who have been working closely with him over the years.
Described by many as a “true friend of the media,” westernmirror.com.ng reports that Compol Odukoya’s relationship with journalists has been one of mutual respect, trust, and collaboration.
This online newspaper also reports that throughout his career, Odukoya has maintained an open-door policy, always ready and willing to offer valuable insights and facilitate smooth communication between the government and the press.
This has subsequently earned him a reputation as one of the most media-friendly officials presently in the service of Oyo state.
At a modest gathering held at the Press Room today, journalists shared stories of their interactions with the retired police officer, and highlighted his transparency and accessibility.
“Compol Odukoya is one of the few public servants who truly understands the role of the media in promoting good governance.
“He has always made our work easier, offering honest answers and deepening a positive relationship between the government and the people,” said one of the senior journalists present at the celebration.
Compol Odukoya, in his response, thanked the journalists for their kind words and support saying: “The media plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion and keeping leaders accountable.
“I have always believed that a good working relationship between the press and the government is key to achieving transparency and progress.”
