The aspiration of award-winning multimedia journalist, Dayo Adu, to serve as the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has received a significant endorsement from the Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) ahead of the union’s December 9 election.
Adu, a Principal Reporter and respected broadcaster with over 15 years of experience in both traditional and digital media, is known for his commitment to developmental journalism and his passion for stories that empower communities.
His professional footprint extends beyond the newsroom, covering communication strategy, media research, and social impact initiatives.
During a courtesy visit to the Zonal Director’s office, Adu, accompanied by the Deputy Director of News and Current Affairs and former NUJ Oyo State Chairman, Mr. Adewumi Faniran, formally presented his nomination form.
In his remarks, Mr. Dominic Mokikan, the FRCN Zonal Director, described Adu as a dependable and principled journalist who has consistently upheld the values of the profession.
He commended his work ethic and dedication to ethical reporting, noting that such qualities were crucial for the stability and growth of the union.
“The farther we go, the better for the system,” Mokikan said, recalling his first encounter with Adu during an official assignment, where the journalist’s professionalism left a lasting impression.
He further expressed confidence in Adu’s capacity to represent the FRCN and the broader journalism community with integrity.
Mokikan assured that the corporation would stand behind credible candidates, adding that members of staff would be encouraged to speak with one voice when casting their votes.
Adu’s growing support base within and beyond the FRCN has continued to strengthen his campaign, as colleagues and media stakeholders describe him as a bridge-builder committed to advancing the welfare and credibility of the profession in Oyo State.
