A High Court sitting at Iyaganku, Ibadan, has adjourned hearing in a defamation suit filed by spiritual leader, Satguru Maharaj Ji, against Prophet Amos Ojo (a.k.a. Elewuogbo), Mr. Oyeleye Oladele, and his publishing firm, Ee-nuel Global Information Limited, till October 20, 2025.
The case, which came up on Monday at Court 18, is being presided over by Justice J.O.S. Oyediran, who announced that the adjourned date would be used for a Case Management Conference (CMC).
During the proceedings, legal representatives for all parties were present. Satguru Maharaj Ji was represented by Barrister Olasehinde Obisesan; the first defendant, Prophet Amos Ojo, was represented by Barrister Akinfala Samuel; while the second and third defendants also had legal counsel in attendance.
Barrister Akinfala, speaking before the court, admitted that his client, Prophet Ojo, had failed to respond promptly to a notice served and, therefore, was liable to pay a default fee.
He assured the court that the outstanding fee would be paid before the next hearing.
Speaking to journalists after the sitting, Satguru Maharaj Ji’s counsel, Barrister Obisesan, confirmed the development, saying: “The counsel to the first defendant has filed a motion to regularize their out-of-time statement of defence, but our response will only follow after they fulfill the requirement of settling the default fee, which the court has acknowledged.”
Meanwhile, a separate criminal case related to the defamation allegations is also ongoing at Magistrate Court 7, Iyaganku, where Satguru Maharaj Ji has filed charges against Prophet Amos Ojo and one Mr. Gbenga Dan Asabe.
The next hearing for that case is scheduled for July 31, 2025.
The defamation suit is part of legal actions by Satguru Maharaj Ji, who alleges that the defendants made defamatory publications aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
