The Leader of the Legislative Arm in Oluyole Local Government, Hon. Taofeek Azeez, has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming he has been impeached.
In a brief statement on Wednesday, Azeez, who represents Ward 3 and is popularly known as Iwo, described the news of his alleged removal as baseless and misleading.
Hon. Azeez condemnei such move by some members of the House describing it as “anti people, anti-democratic, and selfish aimed at plunging Oluyole local government into chaos and political instability.
Hew maintained that as the Leader of the House, he was unaware of any allegation from his colleagues and such motive has never been on any item on the Legislative Order Paper at any of its sittings.
He wondered where the Counselors held their sitting and who presided over such sitting where “such political rascality and brigandage” held.
He also called on Security agencies in the local government to stay alert in ensuring that such attempt to create political instability and truncating the relative public peace and tranquility was averted.
He affirmed that he remains the duly elected and recognized Leader of the House, urging the public and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the local government to ignore what he called “cheap propaganda aimed at causing confusion.”
“Let it be on record that I, Hon. Taofeek Azeez (Iwo), still serve as the Leader of Oluyole Legislative Council. Any report suggesting otherwise is false and should be disregarded in its entirety,” he said.
He further assured residents and party stakeholders that the legislative arm remains committed to supporting the developmental agenda of Governor Seyi Makinde and the executive chairman of the Council.
As of time of filing this report, efforts to get the executive chairman of Oluyole local government, Akeem Olatunji proved abortive as calls and messages sent to him were not responded to.
