The Speaker, Oyo state House of Assembly and Chairman, Nigeria Conference of Speakers of State Legislature, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin today observed the Eid prayer with Muslim Ummarh as a show of unity in religious diversity.

Ogundoyin, in a post on his official Facebook page equally called on Muslim faithful to embrace the values of unity and togetherness, in the spirit of promoting interfaith harmony.

Confirming the development to westernmirror.com.ng on Sunday afternoon in a phone conversation, Ogundoyin maintained that the world would be a better place if all humans embrace brotherliness in humanity, which he described as the first religion.

According to Ogundoyin’s Facebook post, he said: “Today, I joined the Islamic community in my constituency in celebrating Eid-el-Kabir, embracing the values of unity and togetherness.

The second term Speaker of Oyo state Assembly noted that both Muslims and Christians pray to the same stressing that so much could be achieved together when the people focused more on things that unite them rather than issues that create division.

He added that being a practicing Christian should not deter him from solidarizing with his Muslim brothers and sisters in worship noting that such gesture creates deeper bond, promotes interfaith harmony and engenders peaceful coexistence.

“I was honored to participate in the prayer at the Central Eid, New Garage, Eruwa, and that of Central Mosque, Nitel area Lanlate.

“While addressing the two congregations, I congratulated everyone on this year’s Eid-l-kabir celebration, and I expressed appreciation for the honor accorded me by our respected Chief Imams and Alfas.

“I solicited their prayers for the continued success being recorded by the present administration in Oyo State, and assured them that the ongoing Ido-Eruwa road project will be of high quality just like other roads constructed by Governor Seyi Makinde.

“I used the medium to dispel the rumor that Eruwa Farm Settlement project has been abandoned and fund diverted. I assured them that the Governor has promised that the project which would be a first class farm settlement will take off soon.”
