Students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Iseyin campus were abuzz with excitement on Monday as Governor Seyi Makinde visited their school to inspect ongoing projects.
The governor’s visit was also marked by enthusiastic interactions, including numerous selfies with students who seized the opportunity to capture the moment with their phones.
The governor, who was in company of some members of the state executive Council members and other top state functionaries had to stop his convoy to have a brief interaction with the students who in their numbers eagerly rushed to meet the governor upon realizing his presence within the campus.
Governor Makinde had decided to do a stop over in the Iseyin campus of LAUTECH after commissioning 500 newly recruited personnel of the Oyo State Road Management Agency (OYRTMA) at the NYSC Orientation camp, Iseyin.
During the visit, Governor Makinde was given a tour of the campus facilities and met with faculty and students. His visit, however, was not just a social occasion; it provided a platform for students to express their concerns and needs on campus.
In light of the challenges bothering on free internet access at the Iseyin campus, students appealed for provision of the facility to improve their campus experience while undergoing their various programmes while also emphasizing that reliable and fast internet is crucial for their academic success and overall campus experience.
Governor Makinde in his brief remark, acknowledged the students’ concerns and promised to look into their request.
He expressed his commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure across the state and assured the students that their needs would be addressed as part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of education in Oyo State.
Meanwhile, westernmirror.com.ng had earlier reported that governor Makinde has granted approval for hazard allowance for all staff members of OYRTMA in order to motivate them more in line of duty.
While charging the personnel on professional conduct and sustenance of ethical standards, Governor Makinde warned against behaviors capable of discrediting the image of the agency, assuring that the welfare and well-being of the state workforce would always be at the center of all his administration’s policies and programs.
