Former Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly and current Special Adviser on Legislative Matters to Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon. Samuel Adejumobi, popularly known as Agbarapo, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in the state.
Adejumobi confirmed his political aspiration for the number one seat in the state on Sunday during an exclusive media chat with westernmirror.com.ng.
The governor’s aide described his ambition as a call to service driven by his passion to sustain good governance and consolidate on the achievements of the present administration.
Agbarapo, who hails from Irawo area of Atisbo local government in Oyo state maintained that it was time for Oke-ogun region to take the front seat having been relegated to the deputy status for many years.
He explained that wider consultations are already ongoing with leaders and political stakeholders from his geopolitical zone with regards to his political ambition.
According to the Oke-ogun born former lawmaker, his years of legislative experience and his current role in the executive arm have adequately prepared him to provide visionary leadership for Oyo State.
“I have served Oyo State with all sense of dedication both in the legislature and the executive, and I believe it is time to step forward and offer myself to lead our dear state into the next phase of development.
“My ambition is not borne out of desperation, but out of a deep conviction that Oyo deserves continuity, inclusivity, stability, and progressive governance under the leadership of governor Seyi Makinde,” Adejumobi said.
He praised Governor Makinde for what he termed transformational leadership in the state and promised to build on the solid foundation laid by the present administration, especially in areas of infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and youth empowerment.
The governor’s aide emphasized his commitment to inclusive governance, pledging to run a people-centered administration that would prioritize grassroots development and create more opportunities for women and youths.
“Our people want a leader who understands their needs and who has walked closely with them. I am ready to serve, to listen, and to lead with fairness and equity,” he added.
