The High Court of Justice, Iyaganku, Ibadan has adjourned the hearing of a defamation suit filed by Satguru Maharaj Ji against Prophet Amos Ojo (a.k.a. Elewuogbo), Mr. Oyeleye Oladele, and his publishing firm, Ee-nuel Global Information Limited, until June 26, 2025.
At the hearing held on Thursday, the presiding judge, Justice J.O.S. Oyediran, ruled that the case could not proceed in the absence of the first and second defendants.
This however, marks the third time the defendants have failed to appear in court.
Satguru Maharaj Ji’s counsel, Barrister Fereedah Obisesan, argued that the absent defendants were duly informed of the court date and deliberately failed to attend the proceedings.
She emphasized that the Case Management Conference (CMC) has now been rescheduled for the adjourned date and that a hearing notice will be served to the defendants accordingly.
Supporters of Satguru Maharaj Ji, including Professor Mogokeagba Obagah and Dunni Bolaji, were present at the court.
Both traveled from the United Kingdom to show their support and spoke with journalists, lauding the spiritual leader’s character and urging the public to disregard the defamatory allegations.
They called on the defendants, Prophet Amos Ojo, Mr. Oyeleye Oladele, and Ee-nuel Global Information Limited, to publicly acknowledge their actions and reveal the truth or face the legal consequences of defamation.
Meanwhile, a separate criminal defamation case filed by Satguru Maharaj Ji against Prophet Amos Ojo and Mr. Gbenga Dan Asabe is ongoing at Magistrate Court 7, also in Iyaganku, Ibadan.
The next hearing in that case is scheduled for June 17, 2025.
