The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has granted bail to ex-Queen Naomi Silekunola, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, owner of an Ibadan-based broadcasting station, and Abdulahib Fasasi, the Principal of Islamic High School, Basorun.
The three are facing charges related to their alleged involvement in the Ibadan stampede, which resulted in the tragic deaths of 35 children.
Justice K.B. Olawoyin, delivering the ruling on the bail application filed by the defense counsel, admitted the defendants to bail on Tuesday.
Each was granted bail with conditions, including a fine of ₦10 million and the provision of two sureties in like sums.
The court further stipulated that the sureties must provide landed property documents within the court’s jurisdiction.
Also, the defendants are required to deposit their international passports with the court and are prohibited from granting any press interviews for the duration of the case.
The matter has been adjourned until January 27, 2025, for further hearing.
