Former two-term member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abiodun Awoleye, has thrown his weight behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Fola Oyekunle, ahead of the upcoming by-election for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
Awoleye, who is also the Chairman of the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board and a key aide to Governor Seyi Makinde, met with party stakeholders, loyalists, and grassroots mobilizers at his private residence in Bashorun on Sunday.
During the strategic gathering, the former lawmaker directed his supporters and political followers to commence aggressive grassroots mobilization and door-to-door campaigns in support of Oyekunle.
He described Oyekunle as the right choice to consolidate the development strides of the Makinde-led administration at the federal legislative level.
“The by-election is not just about winning a seat, it is about continuity, competence, and loyalty to the people,” Awoleye said.
Speaking further,he said, “Fola Oyekunle has the pedigree and political maturity to represent Ibadan North effectively, and we must ensure victory for the PDP.”
Stakeholders present at the meeting expressed their readiness to work for the party’s success at the polls, affirming their trust in Awoleye’s leadership and commitment to the growth of the constituency.
Hon. Awoleye’s endorsement and mobilization efforts were described by the stakeholders as a major boost to the PDP’s campaign, especially as the party prepares for a highly competitive race to reclaim the seat left vacant following the death of the former occupant.
Among the stakeholders present are the Chairman, Awoleye’s Elder Council, Pastor Pade Gbenro; Comrade Hammed Ajibade (a.k.a last born), Ibadan North Local government coordinator for Abiodun Awoleye Campaign Organization (AACO); Mrs Nike Safiu (Iya Koko), IBNLG Women leader for AACO; all members of the elders council, AACO Pioneers, the 12 wards coordinators, women leaders, youth leaders, secretaries and their assistants.
