Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed optimism about forging strategic partnerships with key Kenyan stakeholders to advance agro-logistics, urban regeneration, trade, tourism, and digital innovation in the state.
In a post on his official Facebook page today, Makinde revealed that while in Nairobi on Monday, he paid a courtesy call on Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Dr Musalia W. Mudavadi, E.G.H.
“Our discussions centred on exploring bilateral relationships between Oyo State and sub-national entities in Kenya.
“We are interested in collaborations in agro-logistics cargo systems, urban city regeneration, trade, tourism and aviation.
“His Excellency assured us that Kenya is open for partnerships and business with Oyo State, and we look forward to making progress on this,” Makinde wrote.
In line with his administration’s plans for new cities development, the governor and his team visited Tatu City, a 5,000-acre mixed-use special economic zone being developed near Nairobi.
The visit offered him firsthand insights into large-scale urban regeneration models and opportunities to interact with project developers.
Makinde appreciated Mr Musyoka George, Senior Adviser to the Governor of Nairobi, for providing a guided tour and detailed presentation on Tatu City’s development framework.
The governor also met with Sitoyo Lopokoiyit, Chief Executive Officer of M-PESA Africa, a globally recognised fintech company established in Africa.
According to governor Makinde, discussions focused on exploring digital solutions for the public sector, particularly in enhancing government efficiency and service delivery in Oyo State.
