The Lagelu District of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) is set for the official inauguration of its Pioneer Executive Committee at a grand investiture.
The event slated for Saturday, November 23 is billed to hold at La Chateau Event Centre in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The pioneer Chairperson of Lagelu District, Chief (Mrs.) Omokemi Oladipo in a pre event statement made available to westernmirror.com.ng on Thursday said the event would mark a historic moment for the society as it sets its course for contributing to the development of the accounting profession and providing a platform for networking and professional growth in the state.
According to the statement, highlights of the event include official swearing ceremony of the pioneer executive Committee to steer the affairs of the body and also, the maiden investiture of Chief (Mrs.) Oladipo.
The event will host distinguished members of ICAN, stakeholders in the accounting profession, and other key figures from the public and private sectors.
Chief (Mrs.) Oladipo, who was the immediate past Chairperson of Society of Women Accountantants (SWAN) Ibadan Branch, disclosed that the formation of ICAN-Lagelu & District Society is a significant development for the accounting community in Oyo State and beyond.
She noted that the president of ICAN, Chief Davidson Alaribe (FCA) would be the chief host of the event.
She maintained that it marks the first time that the Society will have its own autonomous district under the auspices of the ICAN. Prior to this, members from the area were part of the larger ICAN Ibadan District Society.
Chief Mrs. Oladipo however, expressed gratitude to her committee members for their trust and support while also outlining the vision for the society, emphasizing professional excellence, mentorship, and community engagement as key pillars of her administration.
She also pledged to work collaboratively with the national body of ICAN, local organizations, and government agencies to uplift the accounting profession in the district.
“Our focus will be on fostering a conducive environment for the professional development of our members, especially in the areas of capacity building, continuous education and ethical practices.
“We aim to create a society where our members can thrive professionally and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of the state and nation.” Chief (Mrs.) Oladipo said.
She also disclosed that the investiture would be followed by a grand reception where guests would have the opportunity to network and discuss the future of the accounting profession in the district.
