A United States based Oyo Prince, Dahood Oladimeji of the Agunloye royal house has called on all sons and daughters of the ancient town to embrace unity, peace, and brotherhood.

The call was made on the heels of the forthcoming 2025 Eid el-Kabir celebration.

According to a commemorative statement forwarded to westernmirror.com.ng on Wednesday, Oladimeji stresses the importance of coming together, regardless of differences, especially at a critical time when the throne of the Alaafin is witnessing the reign of a new king.

“This Sallah period is more than an annual religious exercise. It is a divine opportunity for reflection, reconciliation, and reaffirmation of our shared heritage as Oyo people. Let Eid el-Kabir be a time to heal, not to divide,” Prince Oladimeji said.

Prince Oladimeji, a prominent member of the Agunloye ruling house—one of the royal lineages that aspired to produce the next Alaafin, stressed that the enduring legacy of the Oyo kingdom must not be compromised by personal ambitions or any other external interference.

“We must allow the highly exalted traditional stool to be guided by wisdom, respect for culture, and the will of our ancestors.

” At the heart of Oyo is our unity. Let no one, including myself, place personal interest above the collective peace and progress of our people,” he added.

Westernmirror.com.ng reports that Eid el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant events in the Islamic calendar, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.

Prince Oladimeji urged the people of Oyo to reflect on the lessons of sacrifice, patience, and love that the festival represents.

“We must use this period to forgive old grievances, support the less privileged, and uphold the values that have defined us as a proud and noble people of the great Oyo kingdom,” he said.

The prince also expressed warm Sallah greetings to all Muslims across Oyo state and particularly to the people of Oyo town and prayed for peace, prosperity, and divine guidance as the town continues to enjoy economic prosperity and development under the new Alaafin of Oyo.
