Lanre Latinwo, former Political Head of Lagelu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has said that governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has successfully engineered a modern Oyo state for his successor.
He commended the governor for what he described as a transformative and visionary administration that has laid a solid foundation for sustainable development in the state.
The former political head, Alhaji Lanre Latinwo popularly known as ‘Lambash’ stated this on May 29, via a congratulatory message to the governor on the occasion of his second year anniversary in office under his second term administration.
Alhaji Latinwo praised Governor Makinde’s strides in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic development, declaring that the governor has “successfully engineered a modern Oyo State for his successor.”
Latinwo, a notable grassroots mobilizer and former council administrator, said Makinde’s administration has not only prioritized good governance but also shown uncommon foresight in policies that will continue to benefit generations to come.
“Governor Makinde has changed the narrative of governance in Oyo State. From road construction that connects rural to urban communities, to investment in quality education, digitization of public services, and improved access to healthcare, he has engineered a system that will serve as a launching pad for whoever takes over in 2027.”
He highlighted key projects like the 65-kilometre Moniya-Iseyin Road, the Light-Up Oyo initiative, the revamp of public schools under the Education Intervention Project, upgrade of Ibadan Airport to international standard, Ibadan Circular Road, the ongoing development of the Ibadan Dry Port, and rail corridor among others as examples of Governor Makinde’s commitment to modernizing the state.
“Makinde’s governance style is inclusive and data-driven. His efforts in bridging the urban-rural development gap and empowering local governments have been commendable.
As a former council head, I saw firsthand how his policies enhanced local administration,” Latinwo added.
He urged politicians and citizens alike to support the governor’s vision through constructive engagement and continuity of progressive policies regardless of political affiliation stressing that Oyo belongs to Oyo people noting that anyone antagonistic to Makinde’s policies in pursuing personal gains.
As the 2027 election season approaches, Latinwo emphasized the importance of leadership continuity and warned against reversing the progress already achieved under Makinde.
“What we have today in Oyo is the result of deliberate planning and effective execution. Makinde has done his part. The baton must be passed to someone who will sustain and improve on this legacy,” he concluded.
