Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Monday received his Ogun State counterpart, Prince Dapo Abiodun, at the Oyo State Government Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, as both leaders held strategic talks aimed at tackling food insecurity and promoting regional development.
Speaking to journalists after a closed-door meeting, Governor Abiodun emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-state collaboration between Ogun and Oyo States, particularly in the areas of agriculture, security, and economic growth.
He highlighted the longstanding historical and cultural ties between the two states, which date back to the era of the defunct Western Region, noting that such a foundation provides a solid platform for renewed cooperation.
The two governors discussed the urgent need to bolster food security in the South-West, with Governor Abiodun acknowledging ongoing efforts by both states in agricultural development.
“We are determined to work together in addressing the challenges of food production and distribution to ensure that our people have access to affordable and nutritious food,” he said.
Security also featured prominently in their talks, with both leaders agreeing on enhanced cooperation within the framework of the Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps.
Governor Abiodun praised the efforts of the corps in promoting peace and stability in the region.
