The Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Interfaith Affairs, Reverend Femi Ibikunle, has been honored for his unrelenting dedication to promoting religious harmony and deepening peace across Oyo State.

The event, held yesterday during the official dedication of the newly constructed Chapel of Grace at Iyana-Offa, Lagelu Local Government Area.

Presenting the award of honor, Reverend Ibikunle’s outstanding contributions to interfaith dialogue and unity under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde were described as exceptional and qualities of an uncommon preacher in public service.

Speaking with Westernmirror.com.ng shortly after receiving the award, Rev Ibikunle described the newly inaugurated ultra-modern chapel auditorium as a “beacon of hope and a sanctuary for spiritual growth.

He also described the ultra modern facility as a hub for community service,” and emphasized that faith would be strengthened and love shared within the neighboring communities and beyond.

He further praised Governor Makinde’s consistent commitment to the welfare of both serving and retired public servants, and highlighted his achievements in prompt salary payments, staff capacity building, and infrastructural development.

“The Governor’s vision for a progressive and inclusive state is evident through the durable roads connecting all zones and his focus on improving the economic landscape,” Ibikunle stated.

The dedication ceremony, themed “Be Relevant in Your Generation,” also recognized the contributions of Professor Oladapo Afolabi, former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, who constructed the Chapel of Grace.

Earlier in his address, the Vicar of the Chapel, Venerable Isaac Olalere, also extolled Professor Afolabi’s legacy, noting that he has not only built institutions but also mentored future leaders and contributed significantly to the growth of the church.

In his remarks, Professor Afolabi emphasized that the Chapel of Grace stands as “a symbol of purpose, service, and divine relevance,” inspiring others to live lives of significance and positive impact.

Also present at the event was the Oyo state Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni (Mni) and other prominent Christian leaders.
