The Special Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Legislative Matters, Hon. (Prophet) Adejumobi Ademola, popularly known as Agbarapo, has been honoured with a distinguished recognition award by the Oke-Ogun Baptist Conference.
The event held in commemoration of the Church’s 25th anniversary celebration aimed at acknowledging individuals whose contributions have positively impacted the church, the community, and the nation at large.
The award ceremony, held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Goshen Baptist Centre, Ago-Are, was part of the conference’s milestone activities lined up for this year’s celebration.
Presenting the award, the President of the Oke-Ogun Baptist Conference, Rev. Dr. Gabriel Ola Olanirewaju, described Hon. Adejumobi as a man whose “enormous and engrained contributions” in the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Oke-Ogun community development, and the larger Nigerian society serve as an inspiration for building a better and enduring nation.
According to the conference, the honour recognises his active involvement in church growth, youth empowerment, legislative advocacy, and community development projects across Oke-Ogun and beyond.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Adejumobi expressed profound gratitude to the leadership of the Oke-Ogun Baptist Conference, noting that the award would further inspire him to intensify his efforts in service to God, humanity, and the development of Oyo State.
He dedicated the award to governor Seyi Makinde, who described as a true God’s sent man to liberate his people from what he called shackles of endemic poverty in Oyo state.
He noted that all ministries do not necessarily have to be on the alter, some are service to humanity from the four walls of government office.
He likened governor Makinde to the Biblical Moses, who against all odds led Israelites out of slavery into their eternal inheritance.
Agbarapo, who went down memory lane on his political and spiritual journey with God in public service, urged more Christians to be actively involved in politics to effect the change they desire.
He maintained that until Christians begin to see politics as part of avenues entrench the church in nation building, misfits and those described as political charlatans would continue to dominate the political space.
While referencing Makinde as an example of a shining light and child of God who has continued to ruled with the fear and wisdom of God, he stressed that Nigeria is currently at a point where sitting on the fence without involvement and lamenting about the ills of the society was no longer tenable.
The 25th anniversary celebration attracted dignitaries from religious, political, and grassroots community circles.
