Former Speaker, Oyo state House of Assembly and Minority Leader of the 9th Assembly, Hon. Ashimiyu Alarape has debunked a viral report claiming that he was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in the fresh appointment list rolled out by the presidency.

Alarape in an exclusive phone conversation with westernmirror.com.ng on Saturday morning, June 15 confirmed that it was indeed a case of mistaken identity by members of the public.

He noted that the person announced in the presidency’s new appointment as Member, Federal College of Education, Ondo State, Engineer Asimiyu Alarape is an engineer from Oko-ogun geopolitical zone urging the public to disregard his appointment claim in its entirety.

The two term member of Oyo state assembly however, expressed optimism that such viral claim was a good omen signaling that something big and profound was underway.

The former lawmaker, who represented Atiba state constituency during his two stints at the state Assembly appreciated family, friends, and political associates who have called and sent him messages over the development.

Alarape is a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo geopolitical zone and chieftain of the opposition party in the state.

“I’m not the one appointed by the president in the new appointment list, the man that has been appointed is an Engineer from Oke-Ogun and I am from Atiba under Oyo.

“So, this is a clear case of mistaken identity and I want to urge the public to disregard the claim in the viral report that I’m the one on the appointment list released yesterday.

“I also want to thank family members, friends and political associates who have reached out to me over the development. I understand what occasioned the mistaken identity but it’s nothing more than public disposition to the name, Alarape.

Westernmirror.com.ng had earlier reported the appointment of former deputy governor of Oyo state, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan as well as ex minister Bayo Shittu, and member, Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Dapo Lam-Adesina in the latest appointments rolled out by the presidency.
