The Speaker, Oyo state House of Assembly and Chairman, Nigeria Conference of Speakers of State Legislature, Rt. Honorable Adebo Ogundoyin has intensified his advocacy for legislative agenda that encourages citizens engagement and participation.
The Ibarapa born state lawmaker disclosed this via a post on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, July 3.
While emphasizing the importance of citizens engagement in legislative and democratic processes, the second term Speaker of Oyo Assembly stress the need for collaboration between the National and State Legislature in strengthening inclusive governance.
He expressed the readiness of Oyo state Assembly and that of the Nigeria Conference of Speakers of State Legislature to work with all critical stakeholders to engender robust and harmonized approach to inclusive governance.
Westernmirror.com.ng had earlier reported how Ogundoyin had continued to tour different parts of Nigeria and meeting with leaders including governors, National Assembly members, federal ministers and other critical stakeholders in his advocacy for inclusive governance.
“Today, I addressed the House of Representatives Legislative Open Week, emphasizing the importance of citizen engagement in legislative and democratic processes.
“I stressed the importance of collaboration between the National Assembly and State Legislatures in strengthening citizen engagement and inclusive governance
“As Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures, I pledged the readiness of State Assemblies to work with all stakeholders for a harmonized approach to citizen engagement and inclusive governance.
“For me, our democracy is still a work in progress hence we must continually improve the process to make it better and stronger.
“At the event, I had the pleasure of a brief meeting with Hon. Chike Okafor, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Food Security and Nutrition.” Ogundoyin said.
