The Oyo State House of Assembly has expressed its condolences to the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, following the passing of his elder brother, Engineer Sunday Makinde.
Engineer Sunday Makinde passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the age of 65.
Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Waheed Akintayo, in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, described the death of the governor’s brother as a significant loss not only to the Makinde family but also to Ibadanland and the people of Oyo State.
“As you grieve, Your Excellency, know that the people of Oyo State, especially the entire members of the State House of Assembly, stand with you in solidarity and support. We hope that the love and support of our citizens bring you strength during this challenging period.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire Makinde family, and we pray that the good Lord will comfort you all.
“Accept our sincere condolences for your loss. May the fond memories of your brother’s life and legacy bring your family comfort and peace.”
The Oyo State House of Assembly has also assured of its commitment to stand by the Governor and his family during their period of grief.
