The Oyo State House of Assembly has confirmed the reappointment of Alhaji Kamoru Aderibigbe as Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, alongside four other nominees as members of the commission.
The confirmation followed the presentation of a report by the Chairman of the House Committee on Establishment and Training, Hon. Olalekan Abiola, during Tuesday’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.
According to Hon. Abiola, the nominees were thoroughly screened based on their submitted Curriculum Vitae and previous experience in public service.
The newly confirmed members of the Civil Service Commission are: Mr. Kolajo Isiaq Adewale (Commissioner), Mr. Akanmu Olutoyin Adedeji (Commissioner II), Mr. Oladapo Oladimeji Olusegun (Commissioner III), and Pastor Taiwo Oluwagbemiro (Member).
Similarly, the House approved the appointment of four members into the Oyo State Judicial Service Commission.
The confirmed nominees include Mr. Musibau Adetunbi SAN, Barr. Wahab Adedigba, Chief Joshua Abioye, and Mrs. Moyosore Ajani.
The confirmation followed the presentation of a report by Hon. Abideen Ogundare, Chairman of the Committee on Public Petitions, Justice, and Judiciary.
“Having thoroughly screened the nominees and satisfied with their presentations, responses, and professional experience, the Committee hereby recommends, pursuant to Section 198 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as altered), that the appointment of the nominees be confirmed,” the report stated.
In a separate development, the Minority Leader of the House, Hon. Waliu Salami, raised a motion of urgent public importance, calling on Governor Seyi Makinde to intervene in the dire situation affecting the people of Kisi and Igboho communities in the Oke-Ogun area of the state.
According to the lawmaker, two critical bridges connecting the Saki-Ogbooro-Igboho and Kisi-Igbope-Saki roads collapsed following heavy downpour in the early hours of Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
This resulted in the flood that disrupted ongoing construction of the Saki-Ogbooro-Igboho road, severely affecting transportation and economic activities.
“The Ogun River bridge along the Saki-Ogbooro-Igboho road, a colonial-era structure, was completely washed away due to overflooding. The people of Saki, Igboho, Ogbooro, and other adjoining communities are now cut off and unable to move goods or vehicles along this route,” Salami said.
He noted that the only available alternative route — through the Sepeteri axis, is much longer and in poor condition, raising concerns over a possible increase in the prices of goods, especially agricultural produce.
Recognizing Oke-Ogun as a key agrarian zone for food supply to the state capital, the House warned that failure to act swiftly could result in economic hardship and a spike in food prices.
The House however, urged Governor Seyi Makinde to direct the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to immediately mobilize the contractor handling the Saki-Ogbooro-Igboho road to commence palliative work on the collapsed Ogun River bridge, pending full reconstruction.
It also called on the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to conduct a spot assessment on the collapsed bridge linking Kisi-Igbope (Igboho)-Saki road and prepare a Bill of Quantity (BOQ) for its urgent reconstruction while directing the Chairman of Irepo Local Government Area to urgently rehabilitate the collapsed bridge along Ajangba to National Open University Road, Kisi, to restore vehicular access and economic activities.
Part of the appeal by the legislature also included an appeal to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and other relevant emergency response bodies to activate preparedness and response protocols across affected areas in the state.
