The Oyo State House of Assembly Service Commission has presented its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting what it described as significant institutional reforms and steady improvements in service delivery within the legislative arm of government.
Presenting the report at plenary on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Julius Okedoyin, assured that the Commission would sustain its commitment to strengthening efficiency, professionalism, and productivity in the State House of Assembly.
The presentation took place during a sitting presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin. Speaking with journalists shortly after the exercise, Okedoyin said the Commission had recorded measurable progress across different sectors of the Assembly, particularly in administrative systems, staff capacity, and work environment.
According to him, the Commission, which oversees the affairs of legislative staff, has prioritised continuous personnel development as a foundation for effective legislative service delivery.
“The Commission under my leadership has remained committed to building a strong, ethical, and professional legislative service that supports and advances the ideals of effective lawmaking,” Okedoyin said.
“Our goal is to ensure that the Oyo State House of Assembly continues to rank among the best legislative institutions in Nigeria, not just in policy outcomes but also in service delivery, administrative structure, and staff capacity.”
He noted that over the past year, staff of the Commission benefited from various capacity-building programmes, including trainings, seminars, and workshops designed to deepen their understanding of legislative processes and improve overall efficiency.
“These interventions have significantly boosted individual performance and strengthened the institutional capacity of the Commission,” he added.
The chairman further disclosed that staff welfare remained a top priority, with deliberate efforts made to improve working conditions and ensure timely payment of entitlements.
He also revealed that approvals had been granted for the transfer of service and conversion of staff, describing the move as part of the Commission’s broader commitment to career progression and development across all cadres.
Okedoyin expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for his consistent support, as well as to the Speaker and members of the Oyo State House of Assembly for their cooperation and encouragement.
He also commended the four Commissioners of the Assembly Service Commission for what he described as their teamwork and dedication, which he said contributed to the achievements recorded within a short period.
He reaffirmed that the Commission would not relent in its efforts to further strengthen the legislative service, stressing that a competent and motivated workforce remains essential to effective lawmaking in the state.
