The chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oluyole in the ongoing local government election, Engr. Akeem Olatunji has expressed confidence in recording a landslide victory at the end of the exercise.
Olatunji stated this shortly after casting his vote at exactly 11:25am. He commended OYSIEC and security agencies for the smooth exercise.
Olatunji also stated that his confidence to emerge winner was predicated on the success of the PDP government under governor Seyi Makinde and his popular acceptance recorded throughout his electioneering campaign across the 10 wards in Oluyole.
Addressing newsmen at his polling unit 0037, Ward 4, Oke Suna, Sanyo at about 10:23pm, Olatunji said Governor Seyi Makinde’s accomplishments have become terrifying for opposition to confidently go out to campaign.
He explained that Governor Makinde has completely changed the political narrative in Oyo state political history as far as local government election is concerned.
The OYSIEC Presiding Officer (PO) for the polling unit, Akanni Sule Oyewale stated that the little delay in the commencement of voting exercise was due to logistics issues but assured that everything was under control.
Corroborating the OYSIEC PO, Olatunji stated that the delay was due to transportation logistic issues expressing confident about their arrival any moment.
“We thank God for the ongoing peaceful exercise, the people came out in large number as you can see and the voting process is orderly. This is another milestone in our local government electoral evolution under our amiable governor.
“Secondly, We’re fully on ground across all the 10 wards, we have successfully completed our aggressive campaign and grassroots mobilization and as you can see our people are all our to exercise their rights and perform their civic duty.
“We’re absolutely confident of landslide victory because this is a PDP territory, this is a PDP local government and there’s no room for opposition here. This is not about making noise in the news, we’re fully on ground.
“Governor Makinde as our father and political leader has played his part by giving us what the APC government failed to give the people of Oyo state for seven years. Realizing the significance of this opportunity we have gone fat and wide to solicit our people’s support and votes and they have in turn promised us same. So, we’re absolutely confident of landslide victory.” Olatunji said.
In a related development, voting has commenced at polling unit 001, ward 1, Ayegun and some wards while election materials have arrived at Orita and Podo areas of the local government.
