The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Oyo State Chapter, has presented a symbolic gift to Governor Seyi Makinde, in recognition of his dedication to the welfare of local government workers across the 33 LGAs of the state.
The presentation, made by the State President of NULGE, Comrade Ayobami Olusegun Adeogun, held during the 2025 Workers’ Day Celebration at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
According to Adeogun, the event marked a significant milestone for the Union, as NULGE clinched the 1st Prize under the Formal Sector category, a prestigious recognition bestowed by Governor Makinde, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal.
Comrade Adeogun praised Governor Makinde for his “unprecedented benevolence, magnanimity, and consistent commitment” to the wellbeing of local government staff.
He highlighted the administration’s numerous pro-labour initiatives, including the timely payment of salaries and allowances, the promotion and absorption of ad-hoc staff, the establishment of Zonal Administrative Offices for Permanent Secretaries across the seven local government zones, and sustained support for staff development programs.
“These remarkable strides have not only boosted morale but have also fostered industrial harmony across the 33 Local Government Areas and 35 Local Council Development Areas in Oyo State,” Adeogun stated.
He attributed NULGE’s Workers’ Day award to the conducive atmosphere created by the current administration, which he described as a model of progressive, people-centered leadership.
The symbolic gift, according to NULGE, represents more than appreciation; it is a reaffirmation of the Union’s loyalty and commitment to supporting the Makinde administration’s vision for an inclusive and prosperous Oyo State.
