The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has hailed the successful conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Congress, describing it as a demonstration of true internal democracy and party unity.
The congress, which held on today at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, brought together party leaders, stakeholders, and delegates from all 33 local government areas of the state.
The Speaker, who participated in the voting process, commended the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and well-organized.
Ogundoyin congratulated Prince Dayo Ogungbenro on his re-election as the State Chairman of the party. He also felicitated all newly elected and returning members of the State Executive Committee, noting that their emergence was a reflection of loyalty, commitment, and service to the PDP.
“This congress was not only a constitutional requirement but also a strategic opportunity to further strengthen our party ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the Speaker said.
Ogundoyin particularly lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for what he described as purposeful and stabilizing leadership in the party.
According to him, the governor’s presence, alongside other national officers of the PDP, added immense value to the success of the congress.
“The presence of Governor Seyi Makinde and other top PDP leaders from across the country shows the unity, focus, and strength of our party.
“I commend His Excellency for providing steady leadership and continuous support and leadership, which he said have brought stability and growth to the PDP in Oyo State,” he added.
The Speaker urged the newly elected executives to build on past successes and consolidate party unity as Oyo PDP prepares for the 2027 general elections. He emphasized that with collective effort and dedication, the PDP is poised to record resounding victories in future polls.
Also in a post on his official Facebook page, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin also reaffirmed his joy at witnessing democracy in action.
“Democracy in full display today at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, as our great party, the PDP in Oyo State, held a peaceful, transparent, and well-organized State Congress. I proudly cast my vote alongside dedicated leaders, stakeholders, and delegates from all 33 LGAs, reaffirming our collective commitment to deepening democracy within our ranks.
“Let’s build on this unity and chart a bold course toward 2027. Together, we move forward, stronger and better,” he stated.
