The Oyo state Police Command has confirmed the arrest of suspects linked to the gruesome killing of a yet to be identified woman in Oluyole local government.
The Oyo state Police Public Relation Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso confirmed the development via a text message to westernmirror.com.ng on Saturday when contacted.
“Investigation is ongoing, please,” the Police Spokesman said.
According to the council chairman, the yet to be identified woman was allegedly beheaded by Mutiu Raufu otherwise known as ‘Kekere ata’ on November 11, 2025 in Aba-Alfa community under the LG.
Also confirming the incident, the executive chairman of Oluyole local government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji stated that the suspect allegedly committed the crime on November 11.
According to the council chairman, the yet to be identified woman was allegedly beheaded by Mutiu Raufu otherwise known as ‘Kekere ata’ on November 11, 2025 in Aba-Alfa community under the LG.
The council boss also disclosed that the suspect also allegedly cut off other parts of the deceased body including her breasts and hands.
He revealed that neighbors of the deceased who noticed she was unusually indoor beyond her regular normal time of going out had gone to check on her in her only to find her dismembered body.
He explained that the neighbors immediately alerted the community who equally alerted the local government security surveillance team.
Olatunji disclosed that the Sanyo Police Division was consequently alerted immediately and subsequently swung into action by tracking down the main suspect and his accomplices to their different hideouts.
The council boss stated that the other suspects linked to the crime were tracked down to Muslim Egebda–Tuba Road and Idi-Aro, both within Oluyole LG, where they were arrested and taken into police custody.
He explained that as a result of the tragic incident, the Aba-Alfa community convened an emergency security meeting on Tuesday where he addressed them, assuring that Oluyole LG remains focused on its zero tolerance for crime and criminal elements.
He commended the security coordination that culminated to the arrests and assured that the Police is doing an impressive job on the case. While commiserating with the community and bereaved family, he expressed confidence that justice will be adequately served.
