The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has emphasized the importance of party cohesion and unity as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gears up for the 2027 general election.
He made this call during the Oyo South Senatorial District meeting of the PDP held at the Igboora Community Hall, Ibarapa Central Local Government Area on Wednesday.

The lawmakers include Honorables Peter Gbadegesin Ojedokun (Ibarapa North/Central), Oluwafemi Fowokanmi (Ibadan South West II), Mabaje Razak (Ido), Yusuf Adebisi (Ibadan South West I), Comforter Olajide (Ibadan North I), Dauda Olalere (Ibadan North West), and Babalola Abiodun Oluwaseun (Ibadan North East I).
Others are Olusola Owolabi (Ibadan North East II), Olayinka Ayobami Omikunle (Ibadan South East II), and Akande Opeyemi Modiu (Ibadan South East I).
The meeting, which drew prominent PDP leaders and stakeholders, focused on strengthening party unity, promoting development, and refining political strategies ahead of the next general election.
In his address, the Speaker urged party members to stay committed to the PDP’s ideals and collective goals.
He commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his developmental achievements and highlighted their positive impact across the state.
Ogundoyin reassured party members that the Ibarapa zone would continue to benefit from state-led projects, including the ongoing construction of the Ido/Eruwa road—a key project aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and economic growth.
Representing Governor Makinde at the event, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo (Ijaya), reiterated the Governor’s commitment to grassroots development and called on party members to maintain their support.
Some of the key party figures in attendance included former Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Hazeem Gbolarumi, and Mrs. Mutiat Ladoja, wife of former Governor Rasidi Ladoja.
The Acting Chairman and Secretary of the PDP in the state, Alh. Wasiu Adeleke, also stressed the need for unity, party discipline, and loyalty to sustain the party’s success.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Chairman of the Oyo South Senatorial District, Alh. Kamoru Adeyemi, encouraged members to close ranks and intensify mobilization efforts, emphasizing the need to attract new members and strengthen the party’s grassroots structure.
