The Director-General of Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), Dr. Debo Akande, has emphasized the significance of the 8.8km Adebayo/Alata/Aba Oje RAAMP Road Project in Oluyole Local Government.
Dr. Akande, who also serves as the Executive Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Agribusiness and International Cooperation, made this statement on Thursday, February 20 during the inauguration of the Grievance Redress Committee (GRC).
The committee is responsible for managing potential disputes arising from upcoming rural road construction projects under the State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
Addressing stakeholders, Dr. Akande stressed the importance of community collaboration with the newly inaugurated GRC. He explained that the meeting aimed to ensure stakeholder buy-in for the road project and to promote citizen participation in the maintenance of rural roads.
He further noted that the GRC will facilitate peaceful coexistence between contractors and beneficiary communities, ensuring smooth project execution.
According to him, upon completion, the road will significantly contribute to the agro-economic development of Oluyole Local Government and the state at large.
Dr. Akande also urged stakeholders to support a hitch-free construction process and lauded Governor Makinde for his commitment to transforming the state’s rural landscape into a thriving, agro-driven economy.
The Oyo State Project Coordinator for RAAMP, Engr. Adeola Ekundayo, officially inaugurated the Grievance Redress Committee during the event.
He explained that the committee’s primary role is to address grievances from affected communities, particularly farmers whose lands may be impacted by the construction.
Ekundayo called for fair handling of all complaints and encouraged contractors to hire local workers to boost the economy.
The GRC comprises youth representatives, women, and community leaders from all Phase 1 roads, covering approximately 68km across the state. The committee will also educate communities on construction processes and rights-of-way to prevent misunderstandings.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, assured stakeholders of maximum security during and after construction. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the development of the council.
Furthermore, Olatunji expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for prioritizing food security and rural infrastructure, emphasizing that Oluyole Local Government is proud to be a beneficiary of RAAMP.
Olatunji maintained that the engagement with stakeholders marks a crucial step in ensuring community cooperation and smooth implementation of the 8.8km Adebayo/Alata/Aba Oje RAAMP Road Project.
“With the Grievance Redress Committee in place, residents can expect a more inclusive and efficient construction process, fostering sustainable rural development in Oyo State,” Olatunji said.
