Victoria Island was ablaze with star power and street soul last weekend as Afrobeat’s fast rising star Pohsidon brought the city to life with a dual celebration of his birthday and the official release of his newest single, Guarantee.
Held at the upscale Elysium Lounge, the event drew fans, tastemakers, and grassroots talents into one unforgettable night of music, culture, and urban flair.
The evening kicked off with electrifying performances from upcoming artists Hyce, Faruq, and Sniekey, who held their own on the mic and set the tone for what was to come.
Their sets served as a reminder that the future of Afrobeat is bubbling just beneath the surface.
“It’s important to shine light on emerging voices,” Pohsidon later said. “I came from the grassroots, and I’ll always keep that energy around me.”
When Pohsidon hit the stage, the energy hit another level. Backed by EXPND Music’s dynamic sound team, he performed crowd favorites Fitila and Journey (Hallelujah) before delivering a thrilling live debut of Guarantee, his new single produced by Afrobeat super-producer KrizBeatz.
The track, which blends street bounce with smooth rhythm and a confident hook, had the crowd vibing from the first note.
But it wasn’t just the music that made the night special. The event was curated as a full sensory experience. EXPND Music, led by creative director Mr. Rain, introduced custom cocktails named after each of Pohsidon’s major tracks—Fitila, Journey, and Guarantee—adding flavor and personality to the party in more ways than one.
“We’re not just building songs, we’re building a culture. Tonight is about identity, connection, and turning every lyric into a lived experience,” Mr Rain said.
After his show-stopping set, fans serenaded Pohsidon with a birthday rendition of Happy Birthday, candles and cake included.
The artist, visibly moved, thanked the crowd for riding with him. “This isn’t just a party,” he told the crowd. “It’s a statement. I’m here, and I’m only just getting started.”
With Guarantee now officially out and the buzz from the birthday bash still echoing across social media, Pohsidon is proving he’s more than just another name in the Afrobeat wave; he’s a force shaping the future.
