In a shocking political development, the Ogun State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has publicly declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general election.
The declaration was made on Monday in Abeokuta during the inauguration of the campaign council and the official flag-off of the campaign for Hon. Bolarinwa Oluwole, the PDP candidate in the upcoming House of Representatives bye-election for Remo Federal Constituency.
Speaking at the event, the Ogun State PDP Chairman, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele, said the party was throwing its weight behind President Tinubu’s candidacy in the interest of the Southwest and the overall progress of Nigeria.
He described President Tinubu as a detribalized and fair-minded leader who would not condone electoral malpractice or violence.
“President Tinubu is not a biased leader. He will never support ballot snatching or any form of rigging.
“We are supporting him because we believe in his leadership and commitment to national development,” Ogundele said.
He further called on party members and supporters in the constituency to mobilize and vote massively for Hon. Oluwole, urging them to remain vigilant and defend their votes to ensure a credible electoral process.
Meanwhile, westernmirror.com.ng had earlier reported that Osun state PDP also ditched the party to adopt President Tinubu as its candidate ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
