As part of measures to recognize notable personalities who have contributed immensely to the growth of Society of Women Accountants Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Ibadan branch, the Chairman and Founder of Ibadan based radio station, Solutions FM, Chief Adegboyega Adegoke has received an award of Excellence from the professional body.
Celebrating the relentless dedication and impactful contributions to the accounting profession, SWAN which is the women wing of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) presented the award to Chief Adegoke yesterday in Ibadan yesterday at his office.
According to Chief Mrs. Omokemi Olufunke Oladipo who is the outgoing Chairperson of SWAN, Ibadan branch, Chief Adegoke was honored for his unwavering commitment to advancing women in accounting and his significant efforts in propelling the growth of this profession.
Speaking with westernmirror.com.ng, Chief Mrs. Oladipo whose two years tenure as SWAN’s Chairperson officially terminates on May 25, highlighted Chief Adegoke’s remarkable journey and the pivotal role he played in supporting women Accountants within the accounting profession through SWAN-ICAN, Ibadan branch.
She lauded Chief Adegoke’s visionary leadership and tireless advocacy for creating a more inclusive and diverse environment for women in the field which she said has culminated in the growth of the professional body in Oyo state.
“The award of Excellence presented to Chief Adegboyega Adegoke was to appreciate his fatherly role as a foremost leader in the profession and being a successful business mogul who has continued to provide mentorship and guidance to the younger generation of professionals as well as his material support for the development of SWAN-ICAN, Ibadan branch.
“As the outgoing chairperson of SWAN-ICAN, Ibadan branch, we deem it expedient and important to give honor to whom honor is due before we officially hand over the baton of SWAN leadership to new executives and being one of our biggest pillar as a professional body, it becomes imperative to give him his flowers and that’s what we have done.
Confirming the award received to westernmirror.com.ng over the phone when contacted, Chief Adegoke, who is also a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of ICAN expressed his profound gratitude to Chief Mrs. Oladipo led SWAN in the state for the honor bestowed upon him.
He reflected on the strides made in promoting his professional colleagues who he said are doing excellent job championing the course of women Accountants in the country while emphasizing the importance of continued support for women pursuing careers in accounting.
Chief Adegoke, who is also the Mogaji Aare Onibon of Ibadanland, equally commended Chief Mrs. Oladipo and her outgone executives for how far they have been able to raise the bar of the profession in the state in terms of projection and stressed the need for continuous support for women plying their professional trade in the field of Accounting.
Asked how he felt receiving the award from such professional body, Chief Adegoke said: “I feel okay and honored because I’m also a Chartered Accountant myself, I’m also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. So, I believe it’s always good to support my professional colleagues, especially the women, more so, that they’re trying their best to project the Institute and the profession.
“More so, the out going chairperson, Chief Mrs. Omokemi Oladipo is a very dynamic lady, wonderful woman, I met her sometime ago during an ICAN conference in Abuja and the moment she said she’s from Ibadan, we discussed and she told me about her running SWAN-ICAN.
“I like the profession and I will continue to project the image of the profession so, I’m always ready to support them which is what I did. I supported them and will continue to support them as well as support the profession. I’m glad to do that.”
