As part of strategic efforts geared towards economic and industrial development, the Ipapo Community in Itesiwaju Local Government area of Oyo State has officially handed over 20 acres of land to the state-owned Pacesetter Mineral Development Company Limited (PMDC).
The land, located along the Iseyin–Ipapo Road, will be used for the establishment of an Equipment and Mechanical Workshop Base.
The Executive Chairman of PMDC and Director General, Oyo State Minerals Development Agency (OYSMIDA), Abiodun Oni, confirmed this to westernmirror.com.ng today via a message.
The handover ceremony followed a high-level meeting at the Palace of the Eleyinpo of Ipapo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Yekeen Ademola Abioye II.
The PMDC delegation was led by the Executive Chairman of PMDC and (OYSMIDA), Abiodun Oni.
In his brief remarks, Barrister Abiodun Ogunjinmi, a prominent community leader and legal adviser to the Ipapo community, reaffirmed the community’s support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration and its development agenda.
In his words: “We are committed to supporting the progressive vision of Governor Makinde. Our donation is a testament to our belief in the government’s transformative efforts.
“We assure PMDC and the state of our full support, including ensuring the security of the equipment, workshop, and personnel.”
Ogunjinmi added that while the community made the land available at no cost, it looks forward to ongoing collaboration and reciprocal development efforts from the government and PMDC.
Reacting, Oni expressed the government’s deep appreciation to the community and its traditional leadership.
“We are immensely grateful for this generous gesture from the Ipapo community.
This donation is not just a gift of land, but a symbol of trust and cooperation. We assure you that the land will be used judiciously for the benefit of all, and PMDC will deliver on its promises as a worthy partner in development,” Oni said.
Oba Abioye II, in his remarks, thanked the state government for its dedication to regional development and prayed for continued strength and wisdom for Governor Makinde.
He particularly commended Oni for his unrelenting efforts in the state describing him as a worthy ambassador of Oke-ogun zone.
“The Ipapo people are fully behind this initiative. We promise full cooperation in ensuring this project succeeds and contributes positively to the social, educational, and economic growth of our community and the entire Oke Ogun region,” the monarch stated.
According to PMDC, the new Engineering and Equipment Workshop Base in Ipapo will serve as a central hub for mining operations, equipment servicing, and leasing services.
It is expected to play a strategic role in the state’s mineral development efforts, block financial leakages, and improve on the state’s internally generated revenue.
