…Says opposition stands no chance against Makinde’s political structure in 2027
Hon. Samuel Adejumobi, popularly known as Agbarapo and Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Legislative Matters, has described the composition of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) Oyo State Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council as a clear indication that Governor ‘Seyi Makinde is fully prepared to go all out to wrestle power from President Bola Tinubu.
He stated further that the array of what he dubbed ‘veteran’ politicians is an indication of laying a solid foundation for a successful transition of power to the party’s governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanbi, in the 2027 general election.
The governor’s aide, who is also a former Majority Leader of the Oyo state House of Assembly reiterated that 2027 remains a defining year in Nigeria’s democratic governance and political development stressing that the elections will be a battle between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Nigerians.
Agbarapo, in a statement forwarded to westernmirror.com.ng on Wednesday, said the calibre of individuals appointed into the campaign council reflected Governor Makinde’s commitment to competence, inclusiveness and grassroots mobilization.
He expressed confidence that the team would deliver overwhelming victories for both the party’s presidential candidate and governorship flag bearer.
According to him, the campaign council brings together experienced administrators, political strategists and grassroots mobilisers whose records in public service and party organisation would strengthen the APM’s chances at the polls.
He further argued that the opposition would find it difficult to match the political structure and developmental credentials already established by the Makinde administration across Oyo State.
“The selection of these campaign council members is a proof that Governor Seyi Makinde is intentional about sustaining the pace of development in Oyo State through a capable successor.
The composition reflects experience, loyalty, competence and widespread acceptance across the state’s three senatorial districts,” Agbarapo said.
He maintained that the governor’s administration had recorded historic milestones in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, agriculture, security, economic expansion and workers’ welfare, insisting that such achievements had earned the confidence of the people.
“The opposition does not have a realistic chance against Governor Makinde’s political structure in 2027 because the administration has built a remarkable legacy that speaks for itself.
The people can see and feel the impact of governance, and they will naturally support continuity through Bimbo Adekanbi,” he added.
Governor Makinde, who is also the Presidential Candidate of the APM, is expected to inaugurate the Oyo State Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council on Friday at the Conference Room of the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Ibadan.
The Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Nureni Adeniran, will serve as the Oyo State Coordinator of the APM 2027 Presidential Campaign and Director-General of the Oyo State Governorship Campaign Council.
Other appointments include former Oyo East Local Government Chairman, Hon. Saheed Arowosaye (AROSAD), as Deputy State Coordinator of the Presidential Campaign; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Demola Ojo, as Deputy Director-General (South); Dr. Femi Ojo and Alhaji Siju Lawal as Deputy Directors-General for Oyo Central and Oyo North Senatorial Districts respectively.
Also appointed are Hon. Ramata Agberemi Dabo as Director of the Women’s Wing and Hon. Kazeem Bolarinwa, former Special Assistant on Youth to Governor Makinde, as Director of the Youth Wing.
The party said additional members of the campaign council would be announced in due course.
